Infrastructure Details
The Birr MAN consisting of 7.7kms of primarily 4-way ducting has now been completed. One duct contains 4 sub-ducts. One of these sub-ducts contains a 48-pair optical fibre cable. The network also consists of a number of drop connections to facilitate future customer connections by Telecom Operators consisting of 2-way ducting, sub-ducting and 12-pair optical fibre cable.
The network has been designed to link up with existing telecommunications infrastructure in the region which includes fibre infrastructure, Points of Presence and mobile operator base stations.
