Young Broadband Content Designer 2008/09        Broadband to Live, Learn, Work and Play                    

Shannon Development in association with Shannon Broadband and the Education Centres in the region (Limerick, Clare and Laois) would like to invite schools to enter a new competition to undertake a broadband content design project.  The schools are invited to bid for funding (to a maximum of €500) to develop multimedia online broadband resources (including creative sound, images, animation or 3D materials). Competition Criteria

The content developed will be required to:

  • Be original, significant and relevant to the Shannon Region;
  • Be innovative and include features that exploit and demonstrate the benefits of high bandwidth;
  • Focus on a theme which is relevant to the school curriculum;
  • Promote learning (particularly for school age learners, though not exclusively);
  • Allow learners to participate in the development of the content from storyboarding through content creation to evaluation and dissemination;
  • Produce a resource that can be seen or used by others in the region or that provides a model which can be extended or adapted by others;
  • Build on the local context but have a wider significance;
  • Involve teachers in the dissemination pocess both during and after the project.
